Nikki Sixx Says Rock Hall Told Him Mötley Crüe Would Never Get Inducted

Nikki Sixx says he has it on good authority that Mötley Crüe will never get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Because the Rock Hall told him so.

In a recent interview with Kerrang!, Sixx recalled being asked the reunion question recently in another interview with Tommy Lee. Lee suggested Crüe might do a proper reunion if they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — they would at least perform at the ceremony.

"I was like, 'Really?'" Sixx recalled. 'And he said, 'Why not?' But we don't have any plans because we were told by the Hall of Fame that we would never get in, because of how we've acted, so that's kind of it."

Mötley Crüe's biopic, The Dirt, which is now available on Netflix, is an on screen elaboration of what the Rock Hall was presumably referring to. Sixx has clarified that he doesn't believe his band's behavior was terribly out of the ordinary for the time; Mötley Crüe was just one of the few acts that admitted it.

It's not hard to understand why the Rock Hall might have its reservations in this day and age about welcoming Mötley Crüe into its ranks. But then again, Ozzy Osbourne is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with Black Sabbath.

By the looks of things in The Dirt, Ozzy was a poorly behaved as any rocker out there.

Sixx has repeatedly denied the idea that Mötley Crüe is considering a reunion. The Kerrang! interview represents the first time he's named something that would compel him to reunite the band.

"...[I]f something came up, like, we were invited to play the Super Bowl halftime show, maybe that'd be something we'd be interested in doing. But touring has never been a conversation, and we talk about stuff all the time."

He has added that the band retired because the members were sick of one another. While everyone is good at the moment, the idea of committing to doing another tour stirs up all kinds of unpleasant memories.
