ROGER DALTREY: And Now For His Final Lap
After The Who supposedly said goodbye to the U.S. last year on yet another "farewell tour,"
Roger Daltrey may be doing the same thing this summer, as he's announced a 20-date tour. Dubbed A Great Night Out, it runs from August 23rd in Mesa, Arizona through September 29th in Medford, Massachusetts.
He tells Rolling Stone, “Well it’s one more for the road. After finishing The Who’s final tour of the U.S. (last October), it’s time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same. After touring solo with different bands of musicians for the last 17 years, a less grueling life becomes more attractive, I’ll see. “With my present lineup of nine musicians, I have this opportunity to see your beautiful country and enjoy the hospitality you have shown me over so many years. I’ll be off the backing tracks and always searching for different soundscapes to present the songs. It’s a lot of fun and gives me the chance to have a great night out.” And the tour is basically The Who without Pete Townshend, as four of his bandmembers are part of The Who's touring band, including Pete's brother, Simon Townshend, on guitar. Tickets for Roger Daltrey - A Great Night Out go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster. All dates are subject to change.

The plot is about "three pals who journey to Los Angeles, mistakenly believing that their band is opening for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Their road trip is a rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country filled with adventures, based on the exploits of Green Day and their years of living in a tour van." It was directed by Lee Kirk and stars Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey,
Sean Gunn, Bobby Lee and Fred Armisen. It includes Green Day performances done especially
for the film.
OZZY: Kid Defaults on Loan
Jack Osbourne may have to ask Mama O for some dough as he's reportedly defaulted on a $250,000 loan he took out in February 2021 as the “sole member and owner” of Osbourne Media LLC. In the lawsuit filed against him by the unnamed bank, he defaulted on the loan this past January, which has resulted in the interest rate increasing by 3% and the full balance being due immediately. As of April 29th, he owes $253,000 with the interest accruing at $81.60 a day. The youngest of Ozzy and Sharon's three children, Jack launched the Osbourne Media House website in April 2024 where for $10 a month you could access podcasts, the family’s reality show, and original content. But a year later it went kaput with him saying that financial troubles played a role: “It was self-funded,” he said, adding the family “put in funds” and ultimately “bit off more than they could chew.” The lender is seeking the original $250,000 and all incurred interest along with the cost of the lawsuit.
ANN WILSON: Goes It Alone
Ann Wilson of Heart started a different kind of tour Monday in her hometown of Seattle.
It's a Q&A tour with director Barbara Hall in conjunction with a screening of her documentary,
In My Voice. The film focuses on her life and features her personal archive of home footage, photographs, and journals, as well as interviews with bandmates, family, and artists including pop star Chappell Roan and Paul Stanley from KISS.
The one person who is noticeably absent is her sister and Heart bandmate Nancy Wilson, who Ann says declined to take part as she has "her own stories to tell, in her own voice.” As for what Ann thinks of the film, she tells Rolling Stone, “I was surprised by a lot of things -- by how funny, cheerful, and jokey I used to be when I was younger. Now, I feel more serious about life. Not sad, I’m more philosophic...“Growing and aging, falling in love, having children, all the things that life gives to you that require your serious attention. Sometimes when you’re a lot younger, you just go, ‘Oh, life’s just so wonderful,’ and you don’t think about it that much. But then as time goes along, things get put in your lap that really make you focus. And I think that’s kind of what has helped me mature.” And as for her goal in making the film, she says, "We wanted to show my life apart from Heart -- the songwriting, the road time, and the performing. It’s great to be able to break out of something that you’ve done for so many years. That’s a wonderful feeling.” The tour now heads north to Vancouver, Canada tonight (Tuesday) followed by Chicago on Sunday and six more cities through June 1st in Boston.
