PAUL McCARTNEY: Third Bowery Show Has a Twist

Paul McCartney's third show in a row at Bowery Ballroom in New York City, set for tonight

(Friday night) will be a bit different than the previous two. Journalist Lindsey Adler was one of the fans in line long before tickets went on sale at 1 p.m. Thursday and says that only 90 tickets were distributed. Adler was told it was because the capacity had been lowered from 575 as McCartney's production crew was making alterations to the stage and bringing in an outside soundboard. (The Bowery's soundboard is on a balcony, so an outside soundboard on the floor will cut capacity.) Adler said that notices of filming were posted at the venue. It's not clear what the concert will be filmed for, but with McCartney announced as one of the guests for SNL 50th anniversary special on NBC Sunday night it seems logical that it could be used for that show.

More Added to "SNL 50" Concert

“SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert” has added even more huge acts to its lineup. Cher, Dave Grohl, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, St. Vincent, and Wyclef are joining an already long list of performers, including Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52s and The Roots. “Saturday Night Live” alums will also be at the concert, including Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, and Will Ferrell…and the whole thing is being hosted by Jimmy Fallon. The concert takes place at 8PM Eastern at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall tonight, and it can be watched live on Peacock.

LED ZEPPELIN: Becoming a Hit

Led Zeppelin documentary, Becoming Led Zeppelin, ended its run in IMAX theaters Thursday and opens in over 1000 regular theaters nationwide this weekend. The film had the biggest debut weekend for any IMAX music exclusive released, taking in over $3 million. Director

Bernard McMahon says the success -- and reception from Zeppelin fans -- has been overwhelming. "Nothing prepares you for when you get this call from Sony Pictures Classics going, 'It's the most successful IMAX music film of all time'. You know, they set up these things where they have you come in as almost a surprise guest at a screening just for the public. And so these people are coming up to you and they're like, 'Dude, we've watched your film three times already." And while it's been rumored that the film will return to IMAX theaters soon, a spokesperson for the film tells us that nothing has been confirmed yet.

Becoming Led Zeppelin tells the story of the band's beginnings through their second album,

Led Zeppelin II. It features all three living members talking about growing up in England, like Robert Plant does in this segment from the film. "I grew up in the west Midlands. My father's bloodline was from there. And my mother's side of the family are Romany-gypsy. My childhood was very sheltered until my parents took me to a big school in a big town. I was studying to be an accountant. I mean, I'd really dug a lot of what was going on at school. But when Little Richard appeared it was so provocative and all-consuming and hypnotic it kind of knocked everything else out of the water. That was it. The syringe was in the arm forever."

Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes Expand Live at the Greek For 25th Anniversary

The 36 tracks have been newly remixed and remastered, with 16 of them being previously unreleased. The set adds four Black Crowes songs ("Remedy", "Wiser Time," "No Speak, No Slave" and "Hard To Handle") plus five songs recorded during a soundcheck, including Led Zeppelin's "Custard Pie", "You Shook Me", "The Lemon Song" and "Ten Years Gone," as well as a track titled "Jam," written by Rich Robinson and Jimmy Page. Check out two of the tracks from the package, "No Speak No Slave" and "Bring It On Home," on YouTube. SCORPIONS: Bio-Pic To Start Filming This Year

The Scorpions bio-pic Wind of Change is set to go in front of the cameras later this year.

Singer Klaus Meine told the fan site Scorpions Brazil that "They start filming in a few months. Right now [they are] working on the script and working on the actors, to find the right characters who play the band. It's not so easy to find five Brad Pitts." Meine added that they are involved with looking at the script and who will be cast to play the band members. As for when it might be out, Meine said it's too early to tell. Wind of Change was first announced in July 2024 with French filmmaker Alex Ranarivelo on board to direct.

SMASHING PUMPKINS: Corgan Talks More on Solo Gigs

Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins has posted more about his unexpected solo shows with a backing group billed as The Machines of God. Corgan's name popped up Wednesday on the Milwaukee Summerfest lineup the weekend of June 26th through the 28th. He wrote on

Instagram late Wednesday, "I will be playing solo shows this summer, with the first date just announced and more to come. So I hope to see you out on the road, and as to the why and who of ‘The Machines of God,' all will be revealed soon enough." The band name was inspired by the Pumpkins' 2000 album Machina/The Machines of God. Corgan did a solo tour of Australia back in December where he was backed by the Australian band The Delta Riggs.

OASIS, BILLY IDOL: Hall Thoughts

Liam Gallagher of Oasis and Billy Idol had some different opinions about their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations. Gallagher tweeted that the "RNR hall of fame is for WANKERS" in reponse to a fan post about the nod. And when another fan asked what he would do if the band were to get in, he responded, "[Obviously] go and say it’s the best thing EVER." Idol took another tactic, issuing a statement that said, "It’s such an honor to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, especially together with such an incredible list of fellow artists. When I started out all those years ago in Generation X, we didn’t think what we were doing would last five years let alone almost 50 years, and so to be acknowledged this way in 2025 is just wild, it’s fantastic. “

DON FELDER: Peaceful Uneasy Feeling

Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder was forced to cut short his show Thursday night aboard the Rock Legends Cruise. Passengers taking in his performance inside Studio B aboard Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas tells us that while introducing "Tequila Sunrise," which he dedicated to his late bandmate Glenn Frey, he appeared to freeze while the color drained from his face. His crew raced to his side and escorted him off, and an announcement followed that he was unable to continue. Initial reports are that he's dehydrated and will be fine. As a

result, his show aboard the ship on Friday has been canceled as he's in quarantine for 24 hours. His third and final show is scheduled for Saturday night.

The 12th Rock Legends Cruise, a benefit for the Native American Heritage Association, departed Miami Thursday evening with a lineup that also includes Styx, Alice Cooper, Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening, Gregg Rolie, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, John Waite, Burton Cummings, Colin Blunstone, Foghat, Robin Trower, Blackberry Smoke and many others.

The ship will be back in Miami on Monday.

Longtime Concert Poster Artist Dies

The artist who designed the original poster for Woodstock, as well as posters for concerts, albums and Broadway shows, has died. Rock fans never got to see David Edward Byrd’s Woodstock poster because a schedule change prompted a new poster and Byrd wasn’t available. He produced numerous posters for shows at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East Ballroom and Billboard ranked his poster for The Jimi Hendrix Experience as the eighth best rock and roll poster of all time. Byrd won a Grammy in 1973 for the album packaging for the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s version of “Tommy” by the Who. The New York Times reports that Byrd died on February 3rd in an Albuquerque hospital as a result of pneumonia following complications caused by Covid.
