'Tiger King' Joe Exotic's prison sentenced was reduced by just one year on Friday (January 28), the Associated Press reports.

A federal judge resentenced the convicted Netflix star -- whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage -- in connection to his case involving animal welfare activist Carole Baskin, but only by one year, despite pleas for leniency as he plans to undergo cancer treatment.

“Please don’t make me die in prison waiting for a chance to be free,” Maldonado-Passage told the federal judge.

Maldonado-Passage was convicted in connection to a murder-for-hire plot involving Baskin, his long-time adversary, who was also a prominent character in the Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness series.

Baskin and her husband were in attendance for Maldonado-Passage's hearing and said she feared that the convicted prisoner could threaten her.

“He continues to harbor intense feelings of ill will toward me,” Baskin said via the AP.

A federal appeals court had previously ruled that Maldonado-Passage's 22-year prison sentence should be shortened, which lead to Friday's proceedings.

Supporters of the Netflix star packed the courtroom wearing animal-print masks and shirts that stated, "Free Joe Exotic," according to the AP.

Maldonado-Passage's attorneys confirmed they planned to appeal both the resentencing and petition for a new trial.
