Chris Cornell's Daughter Toni Covers Pearl Jam's 'Black': Watch

61st Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Lollapalooza kicked off its livestream event Thursday (July 30) with a touching performance from Toni Cornell. Chris Cornell's daughter sang a chilling socially distanced rendition of Pearl Jam's "Black" and dedicated it to her late father.

"Always for my daddy," she wrote in an Instagram post documenting the performance.

The 15-year-old was accompanied by drummer Brittany Bowman, bassist Jon Button, and guitarist Pete Thorn, who toured with Chris. Toni's social media post also gave a shout out to Michelle Obama's nonprofit When We All Vote, the Equal Justice Initiative, and the Arts for Illinois Relief Fund, which helps those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Lolla2020 partnered with all three organizations with a goal to raise awareness and funds during the four-day livestream.

A new biography about Chris called Total F*cking Godhead: The Biography of Chris Cornell was published on July 28 and promises to show a full "picture of who he was."

The late Soundgarden frontman would have turned 56 on July 20, and his family celebrated in a number of waves. Chris' older daughter Lily launched an interview series called Mind Wide Open that strives to “help destigmatize the conversation around mental health," and his wife Vicky shared his previously unreleased cover of Guns N' Roses' "Patience."
