Metallica Donates $100,000 to California's Wildfire Relief Effort

Metallica is doing its part to inspire efforts to get relief to victims of California's wildfires.

The band's All Within My Hands foundation has donated $100,000 toward wildfire relief in Metallica's home state, the charity announced Friday.

"Sadly once again communities in California are experiencing historically devastating wild fires in both the Northern and Southern parts of the state," said the statement.

California's North Valley Community Foundation and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation each received a $50,000 from the foundation.

"...[B]oth agencies provide service to victims at evacuation center and other much needed relief."

The band added, "We would like to encourage you to join us in supporting those in need and our first responders in any way you can by donating money, non-perishable food, clothing and other supplies or by giving your time volunteering or providing temporary housing. Every little bit helps."

This year has been a record year for wildfires in California. More than 60 deaths have been blamed on the fires, and over 600 people are still missing.

Northern California's Camp Fire is the deadliest wildfire in the state's history.

Metallica recently performed an acoustic benefit in support of the All Within My Hands foundation in San Francisco. The event raised $1.3 million for the foundation.

Now the band is offering a digital download of the rare performance. All the proceeds will go to donating the All Within My Hands foundation.
