Like many others, Muse and St. Vincent chose to pay tribute to Kurt Cobain this weekend on the 20th anniversary of the Nirvana frontman's death.  And even though they were on two different continents, they chose to do it with the same song.

St. Vincent played the band's 1991 hit "Lithium" on Saturday during her tour stop at Chicago's Riviera, while Muse played the same song on the same night during their headlining slot at Lollapalooza Brazil.

Before launching into their hard charging rendition of the track, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy noted that this year also marks the 20th anniversary of his band.  He told the crowd that "someone great died 20 years ago," and then dedicated the song to Cobain.

The Foo Fighters also paid tribute to Cobain this weekend on Facebook.  The band -- which includes Kurt's former bandmates Dave Grohl and Pat Smear -- posted a picture of the late rocker along with a stream of the Beatles' classic "In My Life."  The song was one of Cobain's favorites, and was played at his funeral.
